A New Identity

Who are you? Why are you here? Of which kingdom are you from? These are questions from the novel that I have been working on. In the fantasy world I have created in my novel, no one can enter the most glorious kingdom until these questions are answered.
In our world similar questions are often asked. Sadly, not many people have an answer to all of them.
Before migrating to the United States in 1994, my spiritual mentor paid me a visit, prayed for me and left me with these words: “You may forget about everything, but never forget God.”
How could I forget God? It had only been a few months since I surrendered my life to Jesus. A new identity had just been given to me when He said, “You are mine.”
Little did I know that Los Angeles would be a really big place to get lost in geographically, culturally, emotionally and spiritually. Time and again I had failed to remember that I am a His child, that He sent me to this country for a purpose, and that one day I will be joining Him in His kingdom.
Yet God did not forget me. In His goodness and abounding mercies, He kept reminding me of the identity He had placed deep within me.
“I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart” (Ezekiel 36:26 NLT).
God alone can change hearts. He alone can give new life—new identity in Christ.
I am a child of the Most High. To glorify Him is why I am here. And to the kingdom that shall never be destroyed, but shall stand forever, is where I belong. All because of what Jesus has done. Hail to the King of kings!
